Peter Wale Diana Sanderson

Peter, born in Worcester is largely a self taught artist. After voluntary retirement from British Telecom, he took painting and woodcarving more seriously. He is a tutor at Bevere Vivis Gallery on the outskirts of Worcester and also runs life painting classes.

Peter is a versatile multi-media painter matching the medium to the subject. His preferred subjects being the figure, portraits, boats, harbours, seascapes, caricatutes and cartoons. He also likes the freedom and interesting effects of semi abstract painting.

His connection with the ballet stems from his time as a pit musician playing for shows.

Amongst his commission works are portraits, churches, Cornish fising villages and lifeboats as he is a keen supporter of the R.N.L.I.

Exhibition Poster

Diana discovered her love of stitchery at an early age and completed her first design whilst at primary school. At secondary school, her art teacher said that she couldn't draw so she embarked on a scientific career. After a few years teaching Physics, she escaped to start a family.

In her leisure time, she continued with dressmaking, knitting and embroidery, eventually setting up Drayfield Designs , the children's clothing compan that she has run successfully for the past 8 years.

She was encouraged to explore her artistic capabilities and took painting classes at Bevere Vivis with Peter Wale who is now her close friend. Her improved painting skills helped her look closely at detail. The opportunity arose for a City and Guilds Design and Embroidery course at Malvern College, providing an embroidery workshop that has proved very popular and is currently fully subscribed.

This exhibition draws on her love for rugged and windswept coastal scenery showing her interpretations both in cotton and on canvas.
