Diana Sanderson

View the Ephemera exhibition

The Malvern Hills are a constant source of inspiration for many creative people who live and work in this beautiful area of England. In The Hills and More Diana uses her photographic and embroidery skills to introduce us to a more intimate view of the hills with their rock formations, flora and fauna.

Using her camera as a sketchbook, Diana depicts the annual rebirth of the hills with her images of bracken fronds unfurling. These close up photographs have been sewn into complimentary fabric mounts that provide the link to her more complex embroideries. Diana has converted some of her photographs of the Malver Hills into detailed embroidery pictures that bring the images to life with their intricate textures. She hopes that this exhibition will inspire us all to take a closer look at the beauty of the Malvern Hills.

Diana is currently studying for her City and Guilds in Creative Embroidery (Part 2) and also teaches tapestry and embroidery part-time at Malvern Hills College. She enjoys the creative work that these activities require and hopes to further her career in this direction.
