After a career as a musician - performing and teaching - Pam decided
to turn her creative instincts towards painting. Starting with classes
at Malvern Hills College, she has taken courses with John Blockley, Geoff
Rowswell and Barry Watkin. She is a member of the Malvern Wells Art Group,
the Malvern Art Club and the Worcester Society of Artists.
"I often create paintings from my imagination, though the images
can be inspired by local scenes or places that I have visited."
"Texturing with tissue, collage or gesso before applying paint
gives me some exciting starting points! At other times I enjoy allowing
the special qualities of watercolour to capture atmospheric landscapes."

Ruth was trained at Manchester Collage of Art and Design in Illustration/Graphic
Design. Although she has followed a different career, Ruth has always
been involved in art and has carried out various commissions including
book illustration, design work, and murals. She has dabbled along many
creative avenues such as sculpture, jewellery and pottery. Since moving
to Malvern from London Ruth has concentrated more on painting.
Ruth's work is quite varied - she is still experimenting and it all
depends on what intrigues her at the time. Sometimes it is the effects
of light, whether subtle, contrasting or back lit for example; sometimes
it is the challenge of handling complicated and intricate detail; sometimes
cutting loose with swathes of colour; sometimes the arrangement and intersection
of shapes and sometimes many of these in the same painting.
